My Story
​​Welcome to Queenyee family medicine clinic! My name is Zhenbo Li, but you may call me James, and I'm a certified Physician Assistant based in Iowa. With over 13 years of experience in internal medicine, I bring dedication and passion to every patient interaction. My career of physician assistant began at the University of Iowa, where I graduated and embarked on a fulfilling career.
​Before coming to the USA, I served as a cardiologist in a general hospital in Beijing, China after I completed my six years of fellowship training in cardiology. During this time, I authored and published three books on cardiology, which continue to be best sellers in the market (www. baidu.com).
In 1999, I pursued postdoctoral fellowship training at the College of Medicine, University of Iowa, focusing on exploring the mechanism of signal transduction of hypertensive myocardial hypertrophy using molecular and cellular technology. My research yielded significant contributions, with prime publications of cover page in top academic journals in the USA, such as Circulation, Circulation Research, Hypertension, Journal of Gene Medicine, and American Journal of Physiology (www.Pubmed.com).

In order to transit to medical practice in the United States, I undertook the United States Medical Licensing Examination® (USMLE), fully aware of the challenges of securing a residency position. Driven by a profound eagerness and passion to serve human health, I pursued the physician assistant program and have since dedicated 13 years to various fields including family medicine, urgent care, emergency medicine, hospital medicine, cardiology, and gastroenterology, with an impeccable record and no history of malpractice.

Beyond medicine, I find joy in craftsmanship, particularly as a cobbler crafting vintage-quality leather purses, each valued at $500 and above. Music is another passion of mine, and I enjoy playing the violin and accordion, as well as composing songs in the community church.

Family is at the heart of my life. My wife is a graduate of the College of Education, University of Iowa, and works as a senior scientist in psychometrics at ACT. My eldest son, George, is a Physician Assistant student at the University of Iowa, while my second son, John, pursues graduate studies in computer science at Northwestern University.
